decrease throttle RPM?

1990 toyota camry V6. Did an overhaul of the exhaust system and oxygen sensors recently. However, while getting thaty done, the mechanic increased the base rpm of the throttle. Earlier the engine used to idle at 1000 rpm, now it does around 1200. How do I get my idle rpm back to 1000? Thanks for the suggestions.

There has to be a small screw on the throttle body, close to the throttle cables. check there. i have a 2.2l though... ( a little different). i found a little screw with a a small bolt on the end.. (note: theres an allen hole in the end of the screw) if you find it adjust it with the car running so you know where your at for RPMS.

Pricker,

Thanks for the tip. I have tried it and there was some marginal improvement. Let me give a more thorough description of the sequence of RPMs observed. Note I have an automatic transmission.

RPM @ right after turn on the ignition: around 1500 rpm

RPM @ shifting to reverse or Drive (without pressing the gas throttle): 1000 rpm

RPM right after that (what would be 1st/2nd gears in manual transmission): progressively increasing from the idling rpm of 1000 to around 2000, then drop to 1500 (in what would be third gear).

Does this profile seem okay to everyone?
