Spark plugs - Denso v. NGK and MPG?
I am assuming the original spark plugs are in the 2007 Camry Hybrid that I just picked up at 157K.
All the posts I see say Denso or NGK. I am not sure what is in my car, but has anyone measured any difference in these two brands?
Even a .5 mpg boost using either the right brand or a perhaps an updated version (it is 11 years later) with the Iridium of course would be worth it for the next 150K.
Thanks,
Steven Clift

The posts could state NGK or Denso because that's what the owners manual listed. If you still have the manual review it or go to the Toyota.com and find it. It should list the following plugs:
Denso SK20R11
NGK IFR6A11
Both are iridium.
In some make/models one brand of plug seems to work better then another. If Toyota listed two brands they should both work equally as well.
Iridium is the top plug for spark plugs.

Joey, thanks for that. I didn't notice the specific plug codes in the manual.
I would be curious if any Camry Hybrid folks have happened to test these two against each other??
Thanks,
Steve

They both work the same.
The Denso ones are sold at Toyota dealerships at a premium high price.
The NGK ones can be found much, much cheaper.
Here in Australia the price that was given for the Denso spark plugs at a Toyota dealer was $A24 each. I buy the NGK ones for $A11.30 elsewhere instead.
One thing that I do these days is put copper anti-seize on the spark plug threads to ensure that they don't seize up and become impossible to remove later.
