engine swap

I got a 94 camry that was in a accident. The motor is good and still in good running condition and I was just wondering if I can swap that into a 96 camry. Is there anything different with the motor and if there are what do I need to change.

Toyota started changing the ign system after 1995. This might includes a cam or crank sensor (later included both) that mounted on the front of the engine.

Toyota also had a Federal and California state emissions engine setup. The California setup was more complicated and had lower emissions. The car should have a sticker on the hood stating if it is Federal of California emissions compliant.

You may have to change over a few parts.

If you have both cars look at the ign system, exhaust, 02 sensor arrangement, etc.

The crank gear that drives the harmonic balancer was around 1994ish? Thus the crankshaft may not be interchangeable but the engine will bolt up to the trans OK.

Also the engine computer may be specific to the year, trans type, Federal or California emissions, etc. Compare computer part numbers.
