engine whining

Just got 2008 SE 4-cylinder camry. Just 24k on odometer.Especially when starting off the engine will whine when you accelerate, and somewhat thereafter. Is this just the way it is going to be with a 4cylinder?All else is good so far. Thanks.(caused when acclerating)

If the trouble light comes on a trouble code will be stored even if the light is now off.

If the car is under warranty take it back to the dealer and have them read out the codes then fix the problem.

The trouble light should not be coming on at all after initial engine start.

If the whine is coming from your stereo speakers it may be an indication of a bad diode in the alternator. Those things usually last forever, but, the alternator will still produce enough current to run things WITH one bad diode, however the output will not be a nice DC voltage but will have ripple on it which you will hear in the electronics. The ripple will be worse just after starting when you are trying to "refill" the battery as well as run the ignition, fuel pump, sensor heaters, fan, lights, and whatever else. Please get the code read. It is probably one for low alternator output.
