error codes p2145 and p0138 : 2008 Camry

Hi everyone. Hoping for assistance with error code p2145. Autozone said, "contact your dealer for that code"

but. the car was already dropped off at the dealer and they came back with a $2000.00 catalytic converter replacement remedy.

I said to the wife, " ".

the other error code is p0138...which i learned thanks to the good folks at Autozone that this is a Heated oxygen sensor - Bank 1 Sensor 2. the part cost on that is 167.99.

but i need help with error code p2145. can't find much online about this code. I said to the wife, "wife, have no fear, the good folks at Camry Forums can help us with this, no doubt!"

Please help. Thank you so much!

P2145 comes back as an EGR problem not converter.

Did you get any other specific info with the $2K quote?

The converter may required by EPA to be warranted separately for something like 8 years/80K miles. Is the car under this limit if so check your owners manual warranties or talk to the dealer.

The 2nd code is correct. Repair price is OK.

For more help on P2145 suggest checking at the Toyotanation website, more members, more comments.

it was the wife who had the time to take it to the dealer her self. the car was dropped off for a day and it was she who also picked it up with the help of her little brother.

on the plus side, they cleaned up the headlamps and changed the oil for free while it was there. the headlamps are obviously cleaned but i'm sad to say i am doubtful about the oil change after that kind of quote. oh they also put air in the tires, the light is off now. the only specifics communicated to her was that $2k would resolve the issue, the issue being the catalytic converter. the car is over 100k miles.

Thank you very VERY much for confirmation on the code in question pointing to the EGR valve. I appreciate you taking the time today. :)
