yeah you should have just gotten the v6.
theres really nothing you can do cheaply and safely that wouldnt void your warranty to get you more power. Plus the cost to get u more power would have been nearly the same if you had just upgraded to the v6. You may get worse fuel economy than the v6 too.

Get the trd s/c set up for the tC. You're gonna have to get some parts custom made but its basically the same engine.

I'm actually quite happy with my I4. For a 4cyl, it's pretty peppy. And as in my old V6 Pontiac, I'm still able to beat most cars off the line. Although, it doesn't have much on the back end speed. But then again, I do mostly city driving than highway. And you can't beat the fuel economy. I filled my car up 2 sundays ago, and I'm just hitting 3/4 tank. And I've driven about 366 km in total since then.

There have been some suggestions here to get a few extra hps by simple mods and using right plugs and oil. Anything else requires much more work and money (ie. engine mod, complete exhaust overhaul). Plus any engine mods (sometimes even the exhaust system) will affect your insurance. And if you don't tell them, and you end up in a collision, and they find out the car has been modified. Your out of luck. They won't cover your policy. Just something to keep in mind.
