i have a 1996 camry that runs great ,but was in a bad accident . I am possibly looking to pull the engine and tranny as a unit and install in into a 1998 camry that has a bad engine. Is this possible ? will I have any problems doing this 2.2 auto tranny. 1998 is the same. thanks for any help.

 

The 1998 engine may have an improved ign system. Changes may include remote (not in distributor) cam and crank sensors or no distributor, separate ign coils, etc.

The computer on the 1998 will be designed for an engine with 1998 sensors, etc. You may have to swap a few parts between engines.

Suggest checking online websites such as Rockauto and comparing part numbers of the MAP, TPS, 02 sensors, etc then swap parts are required.

The trans should be OK.
