IAC/ Throttle body cleaning

IAC/ Throttle body cleaning
I'm attempting to clean my IAC valve and I've heard two different methods:
1. leaving it attached to throttle body and cleaning from there
2. actually removing it
I've seen people talk about how spraying some sort of cleaner down into the throttle body isn't good for it. Any thoughts?

The internet has videos on the process.
Use a throttle body cleaner stated to be safe for plastics.
With engine running, spray cleaning into the IAC valve intake. Don't spray too much or the engine will die. Keep engine running by moving the throttle pulley as required.
