late model 4-cylinder engine oil
I own an '03 Camry just bought an '11 Camry. Manual calls for 5w-30 for the '03 & '11 calls for 0w-20, why? Also, manual call for 5w-30 for the '11 6-cylinder. Why the different weight oils for the 4 and 6?

Don't know for sure about your specific question.
Toyota introduced the 0W-20 synthetic oil in part to gain MPG. The use of synthetic also allows longer oil changes which reduces the generation of used oil (going green) and can be used as a selling point, etc.
Toyota stated the use of 0W-20 would be introduced in later cars as applicable. I take it this as data shows it is acceptable, but?
5W-20 can be used but per Toyota only if the other oil is not available.
Unless very low temps, the 5W-20 is fine. Synthetic is the best oil to use if one can afford the added expense. OW-20 is only available in synthetic.
