Minor 98 Camry Transmission Problem

So here's the thing, when my car hits fourth gear and I'm cruising at about 50+ mph, I let go of the accelarator to slow down and so my rpm begins to come down, and when it reaches about 1.4 or 1.6 rpm it shoots back up about 0.2 rpms and sometimes even more (note: i do not accelarate once i let go of the accelarator). Anyone ever come across this problem before? Or anyone know what's wrong with the transmission? It's a 4 cylinder and I recently had my ATF changed out but it still happens.

The O/D may be dropping out, try turning off the O/D and note if the RPM drop goes away.

So, basically when I'm driving I drive with O/D off? How do I get into fourth gear then?

and your answer is.....the idle air control is sticking or working incorrectly... they usually cost upwards of 300 for every car and aftermarket wont work or last... it happen because people stick their car in drive ten seconds after they start it..they best thing to do is let your car warm up properly.. but everyone is always in such a rush....then they wonder why their car speeds up by itself....after i tell people what it is they get used to it instead of being patient
