Oil Extractor

Has anyone ever used one of these to facilitate oil changes? I just bought one [ a Pela 600 ] for one of our other cars. I recently attempted to use it on the Camry [1994].
I ran into trouble when it failed to pull any oil out. Perhaps the tube didn't reach deep enough. Any advice?
Thanks for your input.

I do not trust that these get all of the oil out. The drain plug is located on the lowest point of the pan and you can not be sure that the "suck tube" is reaching the lowest point. There is nothing better than changing your oil when it is good and hot, taking out the plug and letting gravity do the work.
These extractors are only good if you overfill something like a transmission

I suggest a Google search on the item as there are many post about using the device. Most people seem pleased.

Pela has a website and video on using the device.

If the device is not pulling a vacuum as you pump, the dipstick tube may be too short. Measure the engine dipstick length and compare with the tube on the unit.

Try testing the unit by pumping water out of a pale.

The unit tests fine. It builds up a pretty strong vacuum. The length of the hose is not at issue. There is length remaining to be inserted, but something obstructs it. It's clearly not able to reach deep enough.
I wonder if anyone has direct experience with problems inserting the tube. Is there a trick to getting it in? Is it a case of round peg/ square hole?

Compare the length of tube you can install to the dipstick length. This may help you determine where it is hanging up.
