Default Timing belt sprockets

Hello All,

I have a 2005 Camry LE (3.0) that I am replacing the timing belt, idler, tensioner and pulley, water pump, seals and associated gaskets. This will be the third belt as the mileage is approaching 160K.

Is it recommended to replace the camshaft sprocket also? I'm pre-ordering parts and haven't disassembled the engine so I haven't laid eyes on this sprocket yet. Just wondering if that is a part that typically wears enough to require periodic replacement, as a matter of normal preventative maintenance, when replacing the timing belt.

Thanks

Not unless the pulley is damaged such as broken tooth which would be rare.

Thanks for the response Joey....This one is fine I'm sure but I suppose it could get damaged when/if the seal behind it is replaced....I have that seal on my list just in case the old one is leaking....then again might replace it regardless.

Suggest you try to find one first before trying to replace it.

Normally one doesn't replace the pulley. You may have to order them. Toyota sells them for something like $48 each which is not too bad as Ebay lists used ones for around $30.
