[Help] 1989 Camry - Air Conditioning light blinks
Hello and help please.
My 89 Camry - 2.0L manual - 163k miles The A/C will come on and blow cold for a minute, then shut off the A/C light ( switch ) blinks. Compressor belt is tight. Pulled the " puke " tank to look at the A/C sight glass and see a a steady stream of liquid - no bubbles, when A/C will run. Any clues ? On what to look at ? Don't want to spend to much for repair due to age of car. Thanks in advance for you help. |
RE: [Help] 1989 Camry - Air Conditioning light blinks
Typically when the light flashes it is something in the electronics or sensors. This includes drive belt slipping, faulty AC amplifier or a bad RPM sensor on the compressor.
Resistance of speed sensor should be 100-130 ohm at room temp. The sensor is mounted on the compressor. Make sure you use the correct wires as plug may also have the compressor clutch connections. Don't know how to test the amplifier. The AC site glass should have bubbles at compressor start up and shut down with a clear steam when running and off. |

If this 89 has been retrofitted with 134a then site glass will always have bubbles in it. With 134a conversion site glass should just be ignored.
