1989 camry starting issues

I am having trouble starting my 4 cylinder 1989 camry. The engine cranks but will not fire. The last time it ran it died at a light when I put my foot on the gas. It then struggled to start but did but would die everytime I put it in drive. this happened many times, I then waited about 10 minutes and it started right up no problem and drove home. The next day it would not start at all. I am getting spark so I thought it was the fuel pump. I pulled the tank and the fuel pump works, however there is no voltage at the connector under the back seat. I replaced the EFI main relay and still no voltage at the connector. Is there anything else that would prevent electricity from getting to the fuel pump that I am missing? Please help.

Send a Private Message with email address and will reply with wiring diagram.

The EFI relay (fuel pump) only operates if the engine is cranking or running.

There may be an EFI bypass on in the wiring system. Look for a small box labeled "Diagnostic" inside the engine compartment perhaps mounted on a strut tower (location where the upper part of the strut mounts to the chassis).

If so, the box has electrical connectors. Use a section of wire to jump the B+ and FP terminals. This will allow the fuel pump to run when the ign switch is on.
