RE: 1990 Camry 4 cyl. 2.0 Cold Start Issue

another update: This morning, it was cold and damp. I started the car up...expected her to die..she didn't...after about a min she reved really low and acted like she was going to so I killed the engine, started her up and she didn't die. Let her warm up for a good 10 mins, put her into drive and didn't have a single stalling issue. She didn't die on my while driving, she didn't stall when at a stop sign. She drove well.

Hope that is helpful.

Did it start right away or did it take several seconds? Black smoke again?

If it started right away then I would discount the check valve theory. Black smoke, low idle, almost stalling = flooding.

I posted last night...I was mistaken. The color of the smoke isn't black. It's white. I have a slight vision issue and asked a friend to check it out for me when I started it up after work. And it did start right away. It almost always does after the second or third try.
