Default 1992 Camry issue

I have a 92 Camry and I have a couple issues going on with it. 1. The Air Bag light stays on and won't go off. How do I fix this?? The second issue is the cars idling. It seems to have a mind of its own. It idles out around 1000 rpm but the shoots up to 2000 rpm and stays there for a while. After being at 2000 rpms for a minute or so it goes back down. It also bogs out when I hit the gas. Anyone know what this is??? Please help. Thanks I'm advance!!!

The airbag light is on because the system did not pass the self test. If the light is on, the system is completely off and will not work in an accident.

Fixing the airbag system first requires troubleshooting the system. The airbag computer needs to be tapped into to download any trouble codes. Repairing airbag systems can be complicated.

Is any item turning on when the RPM jumps like A/C compressor, radiator fans, etc?

Bogging could be an ign problem. Check ign parts such as coil, cap, rotor, ign wires, etc.

Well the air bag light just came on out the blue. Any reason for that? No nothing cuts on when it revs up like that but the fan comes on when shortly after it finishes revving up.

Have you check the ign? like what toyomoho said that might cause it.

Can only guess on the airbag problem. The system is very stout. Sometimes the spiral cable connecting the airbag to the chassis wiring breaks due to continued flexing as the steering wheel is rotated.

If this is the problem a code for this will show up when the troublecodes are downloaded.

For the bogging issue check the ign system.

For the high idle try cleaning the IAC valve which controls idle speed. An internet search will find posts on how to do this. Search on cleaning IAC valve and the engine model. 4 cylinder is a 5S-FE, V6 is 1MZ-FE.

Also check the coolant temp sensor for the computer. The Autozone website may have info on testing this sensor in the sites vehicle repair guide section.
