Default 1994 Toyota Camry - Camshaft Not Spinning

So I was driving down the road and my car lost all power and all guage lights came on. Pulled over to the side of the road, and car was still idling at this point. I shut the car off, and couldn't get it to start back up. Seemed like there was no fire at all.

At this point I figured it was a bad Ignition Coil. So go to Advance and buy one. I drive back to put it in my Camry. I install the Igntion Coil and not the rotor button was not spinning when I cranked over motor. So i take the coil back off. I had my buddy look to see if he could see the camshaft inside turning while I was cranking it over and he said no it wasn't.

At this point I know I have major problems. So my question is, "Do I have a broken timing belt" since camshaft is not spinning. Should I said screw it and toss the car in the garbage? It has about 235,000 miles on it. I've had it since 200,000 miles. So don't know if the timing belt has ever been replaced.

I've owned 3 cars before this. Seems like everytime I change the oil in a car something wrong happens with it around the 100 mile mark. Starting to think I should never change oil in a car ever again. lol

Thanks for the help

If the rotor/cam is not rotating when the engine is cranking over the timing belt is broken.

The engine is non-interference and should not have been damaged.

Read up on changing the belt as there are few tips and tricks. A belt is $30-40. Its a time consuming job but something a DIYer can do.

If camshaft doesn't turn engine can't POSSIBLY run or even idle......look somewhere else for your problem!
