I have a 95 Camry that broke down right in front of my house. A week beforehand I noticed a slow leak from my fuel tank which I knew that would need to be addressed. 1-2 weeks before the breakdown I noticed the acceleration and power was reduced.

The car cranks over but rarely will start. The couple of times it would start, it had very low idle. When I pushed the gas pedal the response is very sluggish to no response at all. I have changed multiple parts with no help.

Took it to the shop and they are baffled as well. Watched a YouTube video on troubleshooting ECT, the engine light comes on when I disconnected ECT. Timing belt is good, crankes over using starter fluid, the car starts and only runs until out. Have fuel pressure.

Parts Changed include:

Fuel pump and tank
Spark plug wires
Spark plugs
Distributor cap and rotor
Fuel Filter
Fuel pressure regulator
Fuel Injectors



Any help or experience in this situation would greatly be appreciated.

 

What engine model, V6 or 4 cylinder?

 

4 cylinder

 

Try removing the cat by disassembling the pipe. May be clogged up.

 

Brilliant idea! Will check it asap and let you know.
