1997 fuel filter questions

Hi all: I'm new to the forum and have a question. Can someone give me information on the fuel filter for a 1997 Camry? I don't know where it is located on the car. I have also read a few stories about replacement not being as easy as one might think, with the possibility of damaging the lines while trying to remove the nuts. Any assistance with this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all.

No need to even replace or check fuel filter as these are fuel filter are canister type under pressure. Meaning first you would have to depressurized the fuel system and then take off fuel filter. I have been told by toyota mechanic and various reports on web from toyota experts guys just to leave fuel filter alone. You would only need to check it out or repair when something wrong with fuel system problems.

Basically the fuel filter is like a don't touch it unless you have problems. Doesn't need to be replaced on routine maintnenance items. I have 90 toyota pickup--160k miles -still original fuel filter,, 96 camry 150k miles--still original fuel filter.. And used to have 91 toyota previa 245k miles--I put around 150k miles and never replaced fuel filter--and they all ran like a champ.

If you really want to replace these fuel filter then be prepared for fuel spraying around you or location if you don't depressurize the fuel system. This item falls under leave it alone if it works theory.

But how long can a fuel filter work properly after so many miles? Doesn't it have to be replaced just by it being a filter? Dirt is always going to try to get through and it will capture that, eventually clogging the filter. Am I missing something that those technicians said?
