1998 camry starting issue

i have a 1998 camry just hit 150k miles, when we turn the key it only happens occasionally, where it'll start and rpm will drop and engine will stall. If I tap the gas once the car will be just fine no matter how long I drive. Probably happens like 3/10 times I start the car. Any ideas on where to start looking?

2.2 L 4cylinder engine Camry LE model.

Might check out the Intake Air Control (IAC) valve. This control idle speed. It may need cleaning.

A Google search should turn up post on how to do this on your engine type 5S-FE.

I have the same problem and I found this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i82s4ZfR2js

After reading the comments it seems mixed between people who say absolutely don't do this because it will break things, and people who seem to be happy with the outcome. Anyone here have thoughts on this? Should I take the iac out and do a thorough job of cleaning it or try this quick fix?

unless you are highly skilled in repairs, i'd say no, do not remove it. just spray clean it, maybe spray it a couple of different times.
