Hello, New to forum.

My son brought home our 2000 Solara convertible (V6) and engine now has a moderate ticking noise. This is noticeable when cold and hot, and at all engine speeds (idle through revving of engine - tick is faster at faster engine speeds). It just started making this noise recently and I can't associate the change with any driving event. My kid is 17, so God only knows what he may have done....

Any thoughts on how I could go about diagnosing this problem (if it is a problem). Solara has 116K miles on it and runs like a champ.
