2002 Camry 4 cylinder P0446 B1S2 O2 Sensor

Hi all,

New to the forum, hopefully I am posting in the right area. My check engine light on my 2002 camry (4cylinder) came on the other day. I borrowed one of those scan tools from a co-worker and identified the error code as P0446 (Evaporative Emmission Control System Vent Control Valve Circuit).

As I was looking through the live data section (as shown by the application supplied with the scantool) the only value which seems to be in the red was the B1S2 O2 Sensor Fuel Trim. The value for this read 99.06 which was towards the higher end of the allowed max value. (not sure what this sensor is actually measuring but looked like it was a % value)

Any thoughts on what may be causing the problem ? Should I be taking my Camry in for service or can I simply try to change the O2 sensor to resolve the issue ? (Also if anyone could provide a location in regards to whereabouts of the B1S2 O2 Sensor on a 2002 Camry 4 cylinder that will be much appreciated).

I did reset the code and will be monitoring the car to see if it comes back on again.

Thank you for any suggestions !!

There is a TSB on this, see link:

This is a code for the fuel tank evaporation emissions system (EVAP).

The 02(A/F) sensor would have their own codes, same for a bad fuel trim.

Suggest you first start with the EVAP system.
