2007 Camry Engine Noise

I seem to be getting a grinding type of noise coming from the belt area in the engine. Maybe the wheel pulleys need to be oiled? Or need to change the belt/pulley? Its a 2007 Camry LE with about 92K miles on it.

One or more of the bearings could be bad. If you take some belt dressing or some wd40 or some kind of lubricant and spray just a little bit on the bearings one at a time while the car is running and it stops then its probably the bearing for that pulley. There may be an easier way to test but that's how I've always done it and it's always worked out great for me.

If the WD40 makes the noise go away, do the bearings need to be changed or the lubrication is the fix?

No the pulley would need to be changed. The lubrication is just to see if the bearing is the problem.

but while you're at it, you should check the belt for cracks or damage and change it as well while you're at it if need be. If you find out what it is let me know and I can get you a good price on parts.

and don't be trigger happy with the lubricant. You only need a little bit

Looks like the pulley needs replacing. Might as well change the belt to.

How hard is the job?

Which pulley? Yeah, I bet the belt is due for a change as your car is coming up in miles.
Do you have the V6 or 4 cylinder?

Let look once again to make sure which one it is. Also I have the 4 cylinder.

Did the lubricant trick work for you?
