2007 Camry with error code P0354
#4
There could be a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) on this problem. This is a bulletin issued dealers by the factory providing info on recurring problems that may be due to design or manufacturing issues.
TSB-0047-10
TOYOTA: SOME VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 2GR-FE ENGINES MAY EXHIBIT A MIL ON CONDITION WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P0351, P0352, P0353, P0354, P0355, P0356 (IGNITION COIL PRIMARY/SECONDARY CIRCUIT) STORED IN THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE/ECM.
Suggest you call a Toyota dealer and find out. Given your VIN number they should be able to determine if the TSB applies to your car.
The issue is it may not be a coil but the engine computer. Changing the coil may just result in a one of the listed trouble codes popping up.
The computer is supposed to have an extended warranty per EPA requirements. Sometimes the TSB includes an extended warranty for the repairs beyond what came with the car. You will need ask about all of this, the dealer is not going volunteer the info.
If it really is the coil this would be coil No 4 (cylinder 4). This is the center coil in the bank of 3 coils nearest the radiator. The coil has couple of screws holding it in, easy job.
Price depends on where you buy it and brand name. The Toyota dealer has excellent parts but they are typically the most expensive. Call around to parts store, you want a coil for a 2007 Camry with V6 engine (Model 2GRFE). They should be able to find it and quote a price. Online prices vary from $40-80.
Check out the TSB first though.
