86 camry stalled

My car has been working fine. Went to airport about 15 miles. Restarted car no problem 45min later. Stopped and got some fast food. Car started fine. Stopped and put gas in car. Went down road about 1 mile and noticed the car sputtering a bit. Let up on gas and then gave it the pedal, all was fine. 1 mile later when getting on on ramp, car started to lose power. Pulled over, tried giving it gas but all I could hear was a spitting sound, then car lost died. Waited 5 minutes, car started up again, but when I gave it gas it sputted a bit and then died. Waited again. Car will crank but not start. Have had it towed to mechanic. Says might be the fuel pump. I told him to check out other possibilities first. Also if fuel pump said no more than 350? I live in Washington State, is that a fair amount?

Simple fuel pressure check will verify FP. I'd do that first before spending money on other checks.

The fuel pump is in the fuel tank and accessed from a cover under the seat. I'd say maybe 2 hours max for an experienced mechanic. I'd go to dealer and parts store, get price on fuel pump then the rest is labor. Ask mechanic how much time and you then know if labor is fair. Other quotes don't hurt.

Thanks. That's what I did and saved on the parts. They did charge 2 hours of labor.
Thanks for your help
