92 Camry Starter issue
1 Attachment(s)
My car started making this sound (see attached file), so I installed a new starter a few months ago. The new starter never really fixed the issue, seeing how the sound never completely stopped; it just happened very infrequently. However, the noise is occurring more frequently, not to mention the car is taking quite a bit longer than I would expect to crank over. I have had the battery tested multiple times, and everyone says the battery is fine. What could be causing a new starter to continue to act in this manner?

Does this problem occur irregularly as in the there are no starter issues, then the issue returns and stays for time until the engine starts, then it goes away for a time?
Did you install the new starter as in handy with tools? Was the starter new or rebuilt? If assuming the starter is OK, it could the teeth on the flywheel or flex plate has damaged teeth in one area. Remove the starter and inspect the teeth. Damaged teeth can cause the teeth on the starter to not engage. Post back with findings, |
