93 Camry SE V6 250k Miles

Hello,

I own a 93 Camry V6 SE 5speedwith 250k miles on the car. I am the original owner and the carhas been very faithful to me and even still has it's original clutch. Everything in on the car is still working and the engine seems to run good with the occasional burning of oil when the car is started. I am wondering if it is time to get rid of the car because of the high milage. I have read other posts where the I4 camrys have gone to 300k miles, but never on the V6. I would also like to know if anyone has changed the motor and what the cost was. I really like this car and would be very sad to see it go. I have tryed to maybe find another SE V6, but this model seems to be very rare. Has anyone hit 300K on the V6?

Mike

Me personaly, I would keep the car. Just keep her maintained well. I'm the original ownerof
a 99 camry (4 cyl) with 215K. Its been very good to me too. I though of trading the car in
once or twice but, knowing the amount of miles its taken me through over the last 7 years or
so would break my heart to depart from her. The more miles I go with it, the more I get attached
to the car. Its like ol faitful. I'm sticking with this one till the end. You should do the same.
Good cars are hard to come by....remember, just becuase a car is new, it doensn't mean that
its good.

My Camry V6 just hit 170K and is still running strong.

Used engines are not hard to find if it craps out, it's usually easier to just swap out engines than to rebuild these days.

I'd not worry about it until you cross that bridge.

i have a 96 le v6. i just bought it with 196,xxx mi. but now its at 205,xxx. the engine runs strong, i havent noticed any noises or vibrations. hopefully i wont for a while. although my transmission makes a nice groan around 30mph. i plan to just replace the engine and trans when they kick the bucket. i have had a lot of cars in the last 6 years, i always said i should have bought a toyota every time too, this time i'm sticking with it. i dont like new cars anyway, they always seem to come with more costly problems than a good used car does.

"Old faithful" will get less so with age. How much time can you afford to do upkeep? If body is in good shape engine replace might be way to go. I keep my vehicles as long as I can which has saved me (and my carbon footprint) at lot of money, I also enjoy working on cars, so it's part hobby. Other consideration would be this is probably the best time to get a very good price on a new car with low interest rates. Maybe donate old car to charity as you won't get much for it.
