93 Camry Tail Light Indicator...

I just purchased a 1993 camry from my dad, and of course the first thing I do is change the lights. I use LED bulbs for my tail/brake lights, and now the indicator on the dash turns on the first time I hit my brakes. They do work, and very well, but I am not sure why the indicator comes on saying my brake lights don't work... Now I assume its because the voltage my not be 100%.... but either way, is there a way to bypass this, or tell the car the lights really work? Thank you for any help provided.

i have heard of similar issues with several different types of cars with the LED lights, and consider yourself lucky. a tail light indicator is minor compared to some which cause blown fuses and further electrical issues...perhaps contact the place where you bought the LEDs, or the manufacturer and they may have some advice.

go to some local car store such as pepboys or soemthin and get the booklet manuel for ur car, tells u everthing from engine work to fuses and electrical stuff etc...
it will tell u where ur fuses r and such and which to use for replacement.

Try using the oem lights. Some things weren't meant to be changed.

My light is on after touching the brakes, too. I have a 92 with no mods. I am checking the brake lights this weekend for any problems.

I have the same problem on a 93. You canstart it and the indicator light comes on as soon as you hit the brakes. I think the indicator light has a bug in it because all my rear lights are working and they all have the OEM bulbs.

Ok, you can't change out the standard bulbs for LED's and expect your Light blub failure sensor to work.

There is a sensor in the trunk (it's either a green or blue box) below the power antenna, and it is a light blub failure sensor. It measures resistance across your taillights to look for 'regular' blub failures.

You have three options to get around this: Either put your old blubs back in, or unplug the blub in the dash for that feature so that you don't see it anymore. Or live with that annoying yellow light on your dash!

one more choice u forgot. Add a resistor to compensate for the resistance difference.
