ok, i'll try to explain the best i can. its a 04 toyota 2.2liter. the car will run some days fine and some days it wont even start. it will sometimes die while driving too. it doesn't matter whether the engine is hot or cold either cause the other day it started fine then i drove it 100 yards down the road to fill it up and when i get back in it, it will not start. its not the fuel pump or anything fuel related causeall that is brand newand the engine is getting fuel. and it also has been hooked up to diagnostics and no codes come up. the only thing i can think of is the distributor or something ignition related. so if anyone has any ideas i'd appreciate it

This is an idea and my experience. Inside the distributor is a condenser hooked to one side of the coil. Check that coil for short circuit. That fixed mine for a while but when it went out again I measured the coil and I found it to be defective. I had the car running again in about 2 hours.
