94 Camry V6 Error Code - How do I get the code?
 

Hi All! This is my first post here, actually, my first time looking for a forum devoted to camrys. I'm glad I found you all!

I've got a 94 Camry V6. Anways, I'm having a recurring check engine light (it sometimes goes off, but it has been on for the better part of a week). I can't figure out how to get the error code! I finally managed to get my hands on the Haynes book for 92-96, and it was no help (it says I can't pull the code and I have to take it to a shop to get it read). I've jumped the two leads together (T1 and E1 i think), nothing happened when I turned the key to "On." The underside of the hood says that it is OBD II, but I went an Autozone to use the OBDII reader, and the leads look nothing like the diagnostic center that its next to my engine block.

So, my question. How can I pull the error code myself? I don't really want to spend $150 to go to a shop and have them read the code in 5 minutes and charge me that much. (San Francisco mechanics are pricey). Any ideas?

i think the DLC3 connector is located next to the fuse box....if i'm correct its located behind the compartment in front of the drivers left knee...but when you jump te1 to e1 the check engine light should start flashing, you mit not have a good connection...its been awhile since i've worked on a 94 camry..hopefully my info helps you out...
