I just overhauled this motor with a new crank kit etc , it runs great, and then it throws a CE light runs like a bag of smached *** until you unplug the battery for 5 mins.

I am trying to sell the car so If theres any ideas on what scan tool will work on these id greatly appreciate it.

When the light comes on the car is barely driveable.

 

Any OBD-II compatible scan tool will work with this car. OBD-II was implemented in all model years after 1996.

Actron makes a cheapy code reader that will tell you the DTC and what system it affects. However, its by no means the caliber of Snap-Ons Solis/Modis or like a GM Tech-2. You can find the Actron scanners at parts stores like Advanced Autoparts or Autozone. There are several different models to choose from.

Your Diagnostic port is under the driver side dash. It should be a connector with several prongs. Some of them have a cover over them that says OBD-II.
