99 Camry 4 Cyl LE making humming noise
My 1999 Camry (~155k miles) has recently started "humming" while driving. It starts when my foot is off the gas but while moving. As soon as I brake or accelerate the noise goes away and it seems to occur at any speed. My tires are fairly new and I just had them rotated a few months ago. The car still drives great other than the humming. Any ideas?

Check the tire pressure. Make sure you have the right pressure according to your car. Sometimes shops put the wrong tire pressure, that could be a huge cause for a humming noise.

A whole lot better than trying to have us guess... |
Well, I've been driving on the tires after rotation for 3 or 4 months. It only started making this noise 2 weeks ago.
My main concern is that it's not the early stage of a major repair such as the transmission (shifts fine, btw). But it sounds like a tire issue? I've found some posts on this forum about bearing issues as well. |
Did anyone figure out what the humming noise is? Over the summer I had new axles, new bearings and then in September new rims and tires! 2 days ago, this weird humming noise only when my foot is NOT on the gas! Sounds like it is coming from the front drivers side tire! 2009 Toyota Camry SL 129,000
