99 Camry LE will not accelerate

Whenstarting up the car and driving slowly, the car will not accelerate. This is an occassional problem. The check engine light is not on. The car does not make any strange noise. I give it more gas and it will not accelerate. I let up on the gas it actually goes faster, but only at a slow, creeping, speed. It never stalls. It keeps moving forward, but will not accelerate. I have to pull to the side of the road, and eventually, it will work. Sometimes it will re-occur right away, sometimes it will be OK. My mechanic checked it, test drove it, and the problem never happened for them. The Toyota dealer could not find a problem either. This happened 2 years ago, around 10 times in 6 months. No further problems for 2 years, and now it happened again. Any ideas what to do? Thanks

RE: 99 Camry LE will not accelerate

Only thing I can suggest is an intermittent short in the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) or its wiring. When this problem happens you may try pushing the TPS connector and flexing the wiring to it.
