About to lose my job.
I am about to lose my job because I can't troubleshoot my problem, and can't make the 85 mile one way commute.
My 1998 Camry 4 cylinder started up this morning but died. It has 186,000 miles. It has been running perfect. The code come up as PO340 camshaft position sensor A circuit, Bank 1 or single circuit. No freeze frames because I pulled the ECU fuse. But, before I can remember it saying PO301 misfire, and PO something else multi misfire.
Is this an indication of the timing belt breaking. It is hard to shadetree toubleshoot because there is no distributor to see if it is turning, and I can't look thru the oil cap to see if the upper drivetrain is turning.
How do I determine if it is timing or the fuel pump ?
Any help is truly appreciated.

you take off the top plastic timing cover and thats a visual of the timing belt
rotate the motor
doesnt this have coil packs ?
camshaft position sensor might be faulty if it wont fire or have no spark

I do appreciate your time and knowledge.

If the timing belt is broke, the engine noise when cranking will be different. Typically most valves then are at least somewhat open resulting in no compression and a faster cranking RPM.
As suggested check for spark.
