AC wont turn off??
Hey guys, got a weird issue. My ac works great, almost too great. Its starting to get cold, so I dont use the AC as much, but when I do use it, it does not turn off. I can push the button and the light goes off, but the unit must still be running because when I turn it back on, its so cold that it blows fog out at about 30 degrees. Then the light blinks. If I have to use just the heater like tonight, it can reduce the heat I get if I have it even slightly off the full heat on the heat/cool (thermostat?) knob. I have been a bad poster and have not actually seen if the compressor is running, but it is too dark now for me to mess with it. I will check tomorrow. Anyone else ever heard of this?? Maybe my clutch is sticking?

RE: AC wont turn off??
When you turn the AC on does the light turn steady green or blink? A blinking light is an indication something is wrong with the AC system, typically an electrical issue.
Check the compressor to determine if the clutch really is frozen in the ON position. Keep in mind the compressor pulley always is rotating, the clutch engages the compressor drive shaft. You should be able to listen and feel if the compressor is working. Being frozen in the ON position is highly uncommon. The other issue is the heater control valve may not be working correctly. The valve controls how much engine coolant is going through the heater core. You may be just feeling unheated air coming into the car. |
AC Won’t Turn Off
My AC literally won’t turn off. We have the fan on low with the AC on. It was getting cold so we press the AC button. The light won’t go off, and neither will the cold air. We keep pressing it, nothing is turning off. Any idea on how to fix?

The A/C control assy (electrical box) operates the A/C system including the fan.
Make sure the Heater Relay (HTR) is not stuck closed. |
