Acceleration issues
 

Under light to medium throttle car surges. Wide open it runs excellent.... I did the plugs not it....new timing belt and tensioner not it. No codes during scan. It's driving me nuts. New pedal sensor not it cleaned tb not it. Clean mass air flow not it..gets great fuel mileage still going 80....03 camry v6 xle also had the update applied at the local Toyota dealer not it lol

Check for EGR issues and problem vacuum hoses.

Ok I will look but it doesn't surge during idle

EGR should be off at idle and heavy acceleration. Perhaps an EGR vacuum leak or sensor is causing the valve position to fluctuate during light/medium acceleration.

How do I test the egr I went through the vacuum lines today they all look good no leaks I could find. Also where is it located?

So couldn't I just keep the egr from opening by blocking the vacuum line going to the controller ?

Yes, but suggest removing and temporary plugging the vacuum line to the actual EGR valve. This will prevent the EGR valve from working.

Look in the area of the throttle body.

In my thread just today I finally got to the bottom of a hesitation I had while the engine was still warming up.

I took off the EGR valve, and poured automotive thinner into it, and let it sit for a few hours. You can use brake cleaner, or carb cleaner as they both work fine, but I didn't have either on hand today.

Anyway, when I went to remove the vacuum line going TO THE EGR valve, I noticed big chunks of carbon coming out of the vacuum line so I took it off, and cleaned it out.

Now the hesitation seems to be gone.

I did have a bad coil, but after replacing it with a new NGK, the engine ran better, but the bog during engine warming was still there.

So, view the video, and clean not only your EGR valve, but also check the bottom vacuum line to make sure it isn't clogged, AND the hole in the intake manifold after you remove the egr valve as my intake had half the hole in the intake blocked with carbon.
