Ball Joint Problem 1991 Camry
I just bought a 91 Camry. Engine runs great but I noticed a rattle when I drive over bumps up front. A couple of my friendswho have been in the car with mesaid that it sounds likethe ball joint. I was wondering if anyone out there could give me a ballparkidea of how much I should expect to pay to replace it when I take it in. I'm in the south, no offense guys, but when I go into a garage (a woman by herself) I like to be as prepared as I can so I will have an idea if the shop I go into is being on the level with me. I'm pretty new to this area down here and don't have an established mechanic yet. How quickly I should getthisfixed or if I can let it go for awhile. I'm a student and use the car to commute to and from school about 5 times a week. (approx. 30 miles round trip)

RE: Ball Joint Problem 1991 Camry
The labor guide says it's a .9 of an hour job to replace the ball joint. Plus, you really should have an alignment afterwards. A genuine Toyota ball joint is about $40. Do NOT get an economy ball joint. They wear out in less than 1 year. It's not worth the savings.
