Hi,

When I look up front brake pads at NAPA and other places, they list both ceramic and semi-metallic. How do I know which type my car takes? Does anyone have a recommendation as to brand and model/part number? This car has the 4 cylinder engine with drum rear brakes.

Semi-metallic would be easier on the rotors.

Suggest using the Toyota brand OEM pads from the dealer. They cost more but are often less trouble when it comes to squealing noise.

Make sure your reinstall all the springs and shims, they are there to control squealing.
