a/c fan speeds
My 1990 Camry DX has a sliding 4 speed a/c fan control but only the 2 fastest speeds work. Other forums I went to say the resistor bank is behind the glove box and it is a black box. When I opened it up I found a black box with I think a 4 wire conn as described but it turned out to be an acceleration cut off module. Am still looking for the resistor bank so I can replace the lower speed resistors with higher wattage components.Others suggested that it is located before or after the fan itself but nothing is evident that I can see. This is an American 2.0 liter model. Also does anyone know the resistance values of these 2 lower speed resistors?
Thanks........Doug |
RE: a/c fan speeds
i should be located close to the blower motor, cause i think it uses the motor to cool itself..if you remove it and inspect the insulator for cracks caused by a overheated resistor. it help to have a wiring diagram to test your circuits.

RE: a/c fan speeds
There should be 2 small screws holding it on if I remember right. Tough to tell if the resistor is bad because of the porcelin doping on the wire but a ohm meter will do the trick.

RE: a/c fan speeds
thats why i commented about the wiring diagram to help test the circuit.

RE: a/c fan speeds
There a lot of ppl that can't use a wiring diagram, dam guess a multimeter may be out of the question as well.
