Default California smog test

HI. New here. Seems like a great place for info. I have a 2003 Camry XLE with the V6, with CA emmissions. NO Mods...
Went to 4 different smog stations today and none could complete the test on my car. They all told me they have trouble smogging a Camry. They can't seem to keep it at the speed needed to test it and the go outside of the limits too many times and the test aborts. Do I need to go somewhere special? Is this common? Any suggestions?

This is quite strange. In Santa Barbara I did not face any problem.

Is this test done on a dyno so that wheels are turning? What speed do they need to keep it at?You my need to take it to state testing station not independant facility.

Yes, they put it on a dyno and must maintain a speed of 14 to 16 mph for a set length of time and then it kicks up to 24 to 26 mph. If you go out of range more than twice on either, the computer aborts the test and makes them start over. I called the local Toyota dealer and I'm going to try a place they reccommended. I wasted over 3 hours the other day and accomplished nothing!!!

I'm wondering if there is a problem with your throttle position sensor (TPS)? That could be why holding at speed is problem.

Went to shop dealer reccommended and they were able to get it on first try. Tech told me that the 03 V-6 in both the Toyota and Lexus are a problem. Something to do with the electronic speed control or something like that. I'm not sure, but it is smogged. Thanks for trying to solve this.
