Center Heater/AC Vents No FLOW

Hi All,

I have a 2008 Toyota Camry SE 6cyl. The blower works fine and the (DASH) outer vents closest to the doors seem to work fine. But the center vents just above the radio do not have ANY flow. I've changed the CAF and it was clogged big time. Still no flow. I looked over into where you can see the servo motor arms would move and used the knobs to hit every setting. No Movement from the arm(White Plastic Piece just underneath center console next to radio). See attachment. Anyone else had this problem? I've seen where NO airflow from dash vents, but this seems odd to me. Its not dual zone so i would think it is controlled by one actuator for the center vents?

BTW I used and endoscope to look for blockage, but only see that the vents are closed.'

Thanks in advance,

CJ

The vent arm could be stuck or a problem with the motor.

Its the motors. Is there a procedure to remove other than tearing out the dash? I saw on Toyota Nation where someone force them out but the seem to be held in place with Screws? The drivers side (both) need replacing/repair.

I was able to determine what parts under the dash are NOT working. Every other servo is working aside from the one highlighted in the diagram. Is there a way to remove this part without tearing out the dash? Any write ups? I've only come accross dead or incomplete posts:confused:

Thanks in advance!

Have you asked at the Toyotanation.com website?

Problem Solved

ordered refurb servo unit from eBay. Removed unit with 2 servos . Only way to describe removal is aggressively finessing it out. I did initially run into an issue with operation once it was installed. But that was resolved by swapping out the gears from the old unit to the refurb. Took about two hours to complete. PM if you need details.

So it is possible to remove the servos without removing the dash?

Might consider a post on the process as the subject has come up a number of times over the years.
