Changing oil/filter - how?

Hello,

Interested to get comments from the forum re: the level of difficulty of changing oil/filter for my 2007 Camry. My local shop can do it but I'm interest in doing on my own and shifting to synthetic/high mileage oil.

My specific questions are:
1. Could I drain the old oil effectively using a siphon (I use one to drain old oil/gas out of snowblower, lawnmower, etc and wondering is same would work effectively to drian old oil from the Camry)? I don't have access to nor want to go the jack/hoist route

2. How difficult to change the filter/what special tools required if any?

Thanks

Might pickup a Haynes shop manual for the car.

The engine does not use a one piece can oil filter but a filter inside a housing.

A search of the internet on changing the oil filter plus your engine model should turn up hits, even videos on doing the job.

Suppose one could suck the oil out but might be a pain unless you had a hand pump.

You can get under the car without jacking it up.

have 2007 Camry Hybrid. 4 cyl. you did not specify engine.

difficulty - 1 out of 10.
time - about 20 minutes conventional way
filter removal difficulty - 3 out of 10, you really need to get under to find it.
cost - depends. mine costs about $50 DIY, if not 60, but I change oil only every 12 or so thousand miles.

sorry, SIPHONING oil out? you kidding? besides, you can not do it anyway, oil cap neck in vlalve cover has diflector that will not permit this. BUT WHY?

I've also a 227,000 mile 4 cyl 1993 Accord, no work on engine.
3000 mile changes. Still use regular oil, adding 1/2 qt per 2000 miles.
I'd say this is successful approach.

Why are you wanting to change oil?
Don't answer to me, answer to yourself.
Hint - rule #1: If it's not broken, don't fix it.
