Default Clunk sound possibly trunk torsion bars

After replacing my extremely noisy bad struts/mounts, I've been chasing down other noises from the rear of the car. I've been stumped by one clunk that happens at random times, like just a slight tilt in the road, shallow dips, etc. So finally I heard it from outside the car when I shut the left rear door. A single clunk like something in the hinge area. If the trunk is open when I shut the door, it doesn't clunk. I'm thinking it's something with the torsion bars. Could it be they just need moved to the next hole to tighten them? I know those holes and adjustment exist for some reason, and hoping this is the culprit. Anybody have ideas/experience with this noise? Think I'm heading in the right direction?

As a temporary check stick towels, cardboard or such into the trunk lid torsion bar are to prevent movement.
