diagnosing misfire

Installed new motor in 2000 Solara 2,2. Ran perfect for two months then engine check light flashing, running rough little power.
Constant putt putt misfire. Mechanic now thinks fuel injector bad as engine compression test very good. Any ideas? Fuel injectors are way over my skill level....Problem seems to be in cylinder No. 2. Seems kind of dead...

The check light flashing means the mixture is too rich and can/will cause damage to the catalytic converter. Typically the cause is ign problems such as the ign coil or spark plug, .

Injectors are controlled by the computer to turn on/off to send fuel to the cylinder. The injector would need to be stuck open or grossly leaking to cause a rich mixture.

Did the mechanic check for ign spark at the No 2 ign coil and spark plug?

misfire

Plugs new....ig coils fine. No 2 has spark......this thing has been a hangar queen.

Is the No 2 spark as great as the other cylinders?

If you can get to the injectors. Use a section of hose as a stethoscope (or section of hose) to determine if the No 2 injector is operating. This being when engine running, clicking at the same pace of the other injectors.

If you can remove the injector harness plug, measure the ohm resistance of the injector solenoid. Should be 13.4-14.2 ohm.

Checking for injector leakage requires removing it.

The latest codes are: Po302.....PO115....No 2 cyl has very good spark....How difficult is it to get at fuel injectors? 2.2 Solara 2000....

Get some kind of service manual for the car.

The injector fuel rail needs to be removed. This will allow the injector to be removed.

The injector plugs into the cylinder head (having seals to prevent fuel leaks). The rail then plugs into the injector to supply fuel and hold the injector into the cylinder head.

Need to depressurize the fuel system or fuel will spray out under pressure upon disassembly.
