Door locking problem - Camry 2005

Hi,
I have a Camry 2005 V6 which has an intermittent door issue. Sometimes locking and unlocking the car using the key works correctly. At other times (maybe 50%) the key unlocks the car OK but on locking only the driver's door is locked, the other doors have to be individually locked by hand. This fault seems to occur randomly. Any help would be much appreciated.

Does the lock/unlock all doors switch on the drivers door always work?

Does this car have a key FOB for remote lock/unlock and if so does it always work/

hi toyomoho,
the all doors switch and the fob have the same problem as the key, they work sometimes but not always. Thanks

Sometimes the wiring between the drivers door and chassis breaks down with flexing from door usage. Typically this just effects one door lock.

The door locking system uses a computer interface. Toyota lists this as main body ECU but it better known as a body control module (BCM). The outside door lock switch and drivers switch wiring goes to this computer first. The computer then sends the signal to the door locks.

If there is a front passenger side door lock switch on the outside of the door, when having these problem determine if this switch works.

The other issue can be failure of this main body model. Here the fix is to replace it. Why the computer has issues who knows, could be failing solder joints. Ebay sells used computers.

Do some research on 2005 Camry main body computer to find internet threads on this.
