Red face electrical connector to the sparl plug coil?

I have just replaced the spark plugs to my 2006 camry 4cyl. those little plastic clips thing that you press to pull off the electrical connector from the coil, do I really need them ? cause i press down on them and they just broke off, i didn't press hard at all. the been starting up with no trouble, I was just wondering if they are really important.

The clips keep the plug mechanically attached to the coil. Unless you want to keep checking if the plug is still firmly attached to the coil, suggest using tie wraps or something else to tie the plug down to the coil.
