Traction control and Check Engine light on, 2017 Camry

I was driving home from a meeting today and I accelerated around a turn to slot into traffic, when I let off the gas my check engine and traction control lights came on. I don't feel anything different about the car but I'm 130 miles from home so I was wondering what I could do to remedy it. I'm in a base model 2017 Camry.

If the check light comes on, the traction control lights may also. This to lower the engine load requirements.

If the check light is on. A trouble code(s) has been stored. These can be read out via the cars ODBII port. Some auto parts stores have the code reader and will do this for free. If having a directory of stores call around and ask.

Having the codes will point to the problem.

If the check light is not blinking. You should be safe to drive home.

Blinking would indicate a severe misfire that would damage the emissions converter. You would also feel this miss when driving.

The car should still be under warranty. Any dealer can read the codes and make repairs under warranty.

My two cents is if the car runs OK, drive home. Then get it checked out under warranty.

A loose gas cap can cause the check light to come on. Make sure the cap is tight.
