Filter seeping

Filter seeping
I have changed the oil twice now on '07 V6, and filter seeps oil both times. I have changed oil on many cars, including cannister style like this, and never had this problem. I wet seals with a little oil, and tried to tightening it slightly between changes.
BTW, I am a new member. Thanks for any help.

RE: Filter seeping
Did you notice seepage with factory/dealer installed filter? Check to make sure the old seal did not stick to the engine filter flange. I've seen this happen so that you install a new filter with seal over the old seal. Is it a continuous seep? The oil you smear on the seal tends to run down the outside of the filter. At least you still have warranty, maybe a visit to the dealer would help.

RE: Filter seeping
Oil leaking not typical. If no old seal as Pedro pointed out clean both gasket and engine mating surfaces prior to installing the fiter. Take you finger, dip it into oil and wipe the filter seal all the way around to wet it.
Normally the directions state 1/4 extra turn once the seal contacts the surface, you could be tightening the filter too much.

RE: Filter seeping
Did not seep oil until I changed it. I am quite sure I did not leave the old seal behind, but I will double check. It is not just the oil that I put on the seals that I am seeing. It is continuous. It is not enough to show much on the dipstick, but it is wet after driving.
Thanks.
Thanks.

RE: Filter seeping
I feel pretty certain that I have cleaned both surfaces sufficiently, and that I have not over tightened, but I will be soooooo careful with the next change. After that, if it still leaks, I will pay the dealer a visit.
Thanks.
Thanks.
