Fuel Mileage

I have an '08 Camry SE 2.4L just turned 50K miles. I don't have a lead foot, no hard acceleration from a stop, no taking corners on 2 wheels, etc. I also know that city mpg will be lower than on highway. I just checked mpg after filling up and was really disappointed to see getting less than 26 mpg. My question is would a dirty throttle body affect the mpg this much?

21 city and 31 hwy so in the ball park.

A dirty throttle body can cause a slightly rough idle or issues of idle speed. It's not going to drop MPG. The internet has videos on cleaning the throttle body.

Check tire pressure.

What weight of oil are you using?

Tire psi is good---checked at least monthly and inflate to 2 psi over recommended. Was using Mobil 1 5W20 for years, but now use 0W20 since I understand it may deliver slightly better mpg. I'm in south Louisiana, so the lighter weight oil is OK.

Does your Camry burn any oil? Do you have to add oil between regular oil changes?

No, I don't have to add oil between changes, nor does it burn oil.

I'd clean the throttle body like Joey said and check your air filter while your at it, plus the spark plugs too.
