Fuel Pump Access - Wagon
Have a wagon and I am trying to get access to the fuel pump from under the rear seat. FSM is no help and Haynes shows only sedan. On the wagon the carpet under the rear seat is one piece over the entire floor. If there is an access cover it is under the carpet. To remove the carpet is a royal pain which would mean removing the rear seat back and other body parts. I thought I could cut a flap in the carpet for access and re-attach with velcro. From the pictures it seems the location of the access cover is just off center under the DS rear seat.
Anyone done this and could anyone confirm if, on the wagon, there is an access cover under the seat, or do I have to remove the tank? |

RE: Fuel Pump Access - Wagon
With help from toyomoho I have been able to locate the fuel pump access cover. Since this is a wagon Toyota covered the entire floor with carpet since the rear seat folds forward to allow the seat back to flip down. If the fuel pump ever needs replacing you'll have to cut the carpet anyway. With measurements from toyomoho, thanks.
Center of access cover is 25 1/2" inboard from the outer most point of the chassis - drivers side with door open. The access cover is 9" long. Here are pics of the carpet before cut and after. I cut well back to avoid any chance of cutting wiring and to allow the carpet sit back down easily. You can barely see a quarter marking the center of the access cover in the pic of the uncut carpet. http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/614/1003778mz3.th.jpg http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/6739/1003779wq7.th.jpg |
